Information and Knowledge Organisation explores the role of knowledge organisation in the digital humanities. This chapter reviews the state-of-field for using digital heritage metadata in the context of GIS mapping and Linked Data. Providing a novel perspective on GIS as both an epistemic device and a method for information organisation, it discusses key challenges of mapping a non-modern text from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
